WoodCock & Orange Mole

Taking my cue from traditional British mmoist flies of the "soft hackle" type, I once created my own fly. Natural materials, economical, simple but thoughtful design - these are the features I really like in this type of Construction. And since the midge worked well (in size 14-10 it was sometimes very effective in warm, late spring, during the departure of small brown mayflies), I decided to share my idea with wet fly enthusiasts.
I also named it according to some traditional nomenclature - here's Woodcock & Orange Mole.

1 All I will need to make the fly: Orange floss, mole hair, hook, pileated woodcock feather taken from the outside of the wing.

   2. I wind the orange thread from the eye of the hook to the end of the shank.

   3. in the split waxed thread I place the mole's hair.

   4. mole hair should be used very sparingly, after winding the trunk, an orange thread should shine through.

   5. I tie a feather on a blackberry - I detached the rays from one side.

6.I wind the blackberry - at most two coils.I varnish the head with light shellac.

7 Finished Woodcock & Orange Mole. Next to a variant - here I used a feather from the inside of the wing for the blackberry.

  1. Mops are ordinary "cloth" in the form of a mop that you meet in stores like Pepco, Bricomarche or slippers from Aliexpress, at least....

  2. Is there a chance for links to materials? Greetings Matthew

  3. Adam, my opinion is this. Since someone, once created(a set of materials, arrangement of wings, etc) gave a name to something( in this case a bow tie....
