Octopus
by Kuba Chruszczewski
Increasingly, fly fishermen are turning their attention to sea fisheries, sometimes quite exotic. It happens that an important part of the menu of fish caught in the sea are cephalopods. I want to propose to make an imitation of such a mollusk. It will be a tube fly.
I fix in a vise a hook with a short shank with a straight ear. I tie a bunch of crystal flash and a short section of zonker.

I make a collar from the fur caught in the loop of the leading thread.

I tie eight sections of a special rubber band - they will imitate the legs of my creature. Where the rubber bands are tied, I wind another collar of fur.

I am attaching the large 3D eyes. I have the octopus head done.

It's time for the trunk. I fix a plastic tube in the holder, thread a metal ball on it.

Now I tie a section of mesh tubing. ( See article in WW of V. 2017...). The binding should be well sealed.

I push the tubing forward forming the torso of the cephalopod. I tie and tape it.

I cut off the tube, dousing it with flame.

Finished octopus.
