Super Pupa

This midge with - let's admit it - quite a graceful name, is hugely popular throughout Scandinavia. There they catch grayling, trout, pilchards on it.... Anything that feeds on the flying grunts. Because the Super Pupa is just one of the imitations of the larva of this insect in its last stage of transformation into a perfect form in the surface layer of water. The usually two-colored torso floats supported by the rays of a cock feather. Making a fly should pose no problems even for a novice spinner.

I tie a good quality „dry” rooster neck feather to the hook shank.

I make the torso from dubbing in two colors - the back part is most often olive, green, yellowish, the front part - shades of brown. That is, the characteristic crisscross colors.

On the trunk, I wind a fairly dense ( 8-9 coils) palmer-type blackberry.

Now with scissors I cut out the upper and lower rays of the blackberry.

I leave only those that stand off to the sides.

The first one from the bottom left is a slightly modified version. A „sail” of bright CDC feathers has been added. This makes it easier to see the fly on the water and improves buoyancy.
